Other Adoptable Pets

Are you looking for a dog, cat, puppy or kitten to adopt in the San Diego County area? The dogs and cats listed below were hand-picked by San Diego rescue or shelter volunteers who want these dogs and cats to find the forever homes they deserve. If you don't find what you are looking for on this page, please email us, and we will be happy to assist you in your pet adoption search.

PLEASE NOTE: Foster homes are badly needed!! If you are interested in fostering on a short-term (1-4 weeks) or long term (up to six months) basis, please contact us at petoftheweek@sdlocals.com. Fostering is a great way to find your perfect four-legged match (if you are looking to adopt) and also give so much back to the animals at the same time. Please contact us ASAP!

Beau

Fredonia Humane Society still has 8 highly adoptable dogs to place before the shelter closes (6 are shown here). We started with nearly 50 so we're almost there!! Are you able to resist these smiling faces? Please share this email with friends, family and your favorite social network site to help us spread the word. Will do out-of-state placement -- transport help is available. Email Tom at fredhumsoc@aol.com for more info.

Beau is a fantastic dog who has Lab temperament with a strong, muscular body - extremely loving and playful. He gets along with most other dogs and loves people. He's energetic and strong, which is a combination some people mistake for undesirable behavior but is just his zest for life. You'll rarely see him without a ball - a focus ability that would have earned him a spot with Search and Rescue had he been a few years younger. He favorite game is "roof ball" where a tossed ball bounces its way down the roof as he stands under the overhang trying to figure out where it will drop. Beau's ideal home is with no small children (because of his strength) and no cats. Neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Crate & doggy door trained. 5 years old.

How was Marble supposed to feel when someone tied her to a house post with a lasso knot around her neck and left her there to become someone else's responsibility? She wasn't at all sure, so she decided being very scared was probably the right reaction. She shook like a leaf and made herself as small as possible when we slowly approached. It took about a half an hour for her to feel safe enough to climb into someone's lap, and Marble has been a different girl ever since. Sweet, playful and a cuddlebug, she's comfortable with other dogs (submissive/playful) but the main focus is her love for people. Click through to see all Marble's "adorableness" in her Petfinder profile video. Spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Crate, leash, potty & doggy door trained. Approx. 3 years old.

dog
Fin

A sweet snuggler

Fin is a super snuggly boy who can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people. He loves to be in your lap and would love a home where he can be the center of attention. He likes dogs, but seems to prefer humans. We suggest kids 10 and up for Fin. He is 27 pounds.

dog
Stallion

Don't know why they're calling him a lab. I'd say he's a flat coated retriever or at least a lab/golden retriever mix.

My name is STALLION. I'm a neutered BLACK/WHITE LABRADOR RETR. My age is 4 YRS 0 MO. I'm in the SOUTH shelter. My ID number is A1077128, my necktag number is S200, and my kennel number is S058. - CS

Input from FOCAS - Meet Stallion! He's handsome, friendly, and loves to play! Does this sound like a dog you'd like to spend your tim with? Stallion is an all-around awesome dog with a ton of love to share! He loves to chase toys and appears to be housetrained. His previous owners say that he is good with cats & kids, and he seems to do well with other dogs, too. This social boy walks nicely on a leash and would love to accompany you in your daily adventures! Can you give this sweetie a home? For more info, please call Kathy at 858-205-9974.

Little Bit was a stray that a very kind person had a dental for him, got his shots and then turned him over to rescue. Unfortunately he now does not have very many teeth left, but feels so much better. A "little bit" on the over weight side, he still loves to walk and especially cuddle on your lap and just be with you. He has very good house manners and gets along with other little dogs. Your life could only be better with just a "little bit" in it. Send in your application from www.RescueAChihuahua.com and we will give you a call to set an appointment to meet our Little Bit.

AN APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE SCHEDULING A VISIT TO MEET THIS PET.

"Affectionate" and "energetic" are just two words to describe Belinda, a special 3-year-old dog who hopes to find a loving home and family in which she can be a true member. Belinda would do great in an active home where she can get play time and exercise. She’d love to accompany her new pet parents on their outdoor adventures and athletic pursuits. She has a youthful energy and gentle nature. Belinda is house-trained, intelligent and a great listener. She also gets along great with other dogs. Belinda will do well in a variety of homes. Since Belinda is a young dog, it will be important for her new pet-parents to provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Belinda’s adoption fee is $100 and includes her spay, current vaccinations, permanent microchip identification and more!

Adoption Hours: Open daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

dog
Carly

She's a little on the round side so will need a locked pantry but would love to have a little dog to hang out with

Typical German Shepherd, Carly is a little reserved until she spends some time with you. Once she is comfortable, watch out!!!! She loves a good massage and she will darn well tell you if she isn't done, thank you very much, with a not so subtle paw punch to your hand. Carly loves to walk her new neighborhood and meet her canine neighbors. She is excellent with small dogs. They seem to be her favorite. She doesn't bark but she will give her foster dad a "narc" bark if one of the other dogs in the house is doing something that she deems unnecessary. Smart as a whip, Carly figured out where the treats were squirreled away and when she is ready for one, she will let her foster dad know with a soft but definitive bark! If you are interested in meeting Carly, please contact Tiffany via email at tiffanycgsr@sbcglobal.net.

BeBe

BeBe is a very special little girl, who has gone through a whole lot in her little life. BeBe came to us from Animal Services, as she was going to be euthanized. She was brought into Animal Services as a stray cat with a serious bite wound at the base of her tail. They tried, unsuccessfully, to tack her tail back on, and when she wasn't showing improvements, they gave up on her. But not us.

BeBe was taken to our vet, and her tail removed. As a result of the damage, BeBe was left incontinent, meaning she has little control over her bowels and bladder. Our vet believes she has suffered spinal cord damage and her ends just aren't able to communicate properly with each other. This has not slowed BeBe down one bit. She's the most loving, most adoring cat I've ever come across. She loves playing fetch and giving headbutts !

You have to look past her gorgeous, big blue eyes, and be certain you are able to care for such a special needs kitty. She frequently needs her bladder expressed, and will need regular vet visits to monitor her progress. Please, if you have any questions about BeBe, contact Kyla via email or phone. kylasfosters@gmail.com 619.254.9951
